SQL Basics for RPG Developers

2012-01-06, Meetings, Robert Arce,

Note: This is the 1st in a series of SQL topics MMSA will be presenting. An intermediate and advanced session will be coming in the next few months.

For modern System i development, SQL is a must these days. This session will cover some of the basics that all System i developers need and should know, including interactive SQL and the options available within. And, in addition to commands such as the SELECT, UPDATE, and DELETE, we will cover Columnar Functions and Result Sets for embedded SQL.

After attending this session, you will be able to query and update data using interactive SQL, embed basic SQL statements in your RPG applications, and be prepared to attend MMSA's intermediate SQL session in the coming months.

A MUST FOR NEW DEVELOPERS!
