Building a Common RPG Foundation
There are a variety of strategies for web-enabling RPG applications. In this session, a team of presenters from Glazers will describe how they designed and implemented a new centralized customer service Java web application which uses RPG components for the core business logic.
This presentation showed:
- how the outer Java web application interfaces with the RPG business logic, and why an SQL interface was chosen over other options;
- how business logic from traditional RPG programs was extracted and restructured into reusable components;
- how DRDA was used to implement a distributed application on the RPG side;
- and how a foundation of compiled RPG and SQL business logic components can provide services to a wide variety of UI technologies (Java, PHP, EGL,etc,).
