The role of Java on the System i continues to grow, as does the importance of learning this critical language. RPG certainly wont disappear any time soon, but IBM has irrevocably linked the future success of the System i to Java. Those of us who are RPG developers need to step up and learn Java now.

For those of you just beginning your Java journey, this presentation will be a good starting point. In it well cover some basics about the Java language from an RPG developers perspective, the WDSC tools used to create Java Server Pages (JSPs) and Servlets, an overview of the J2EE framework that your applications should incorporate, and some guidelines for you to follow along your web development path.
