What's up with POWER6 and i5/OS V6R1?

Kendall Kinnear and Michael Daly will give their unique perspective on the POWER6 servers and IBM's V6R1 announcements. This won't be an exhaustive review of everyting IBM's doing, rather a view of some of the cool stuff in the announcements and why these things are important to our sector of the industry.

Why should you be using an HMC as your console? What is a Blade server and why is it important to have a POWER6 blade running i5/OS? What is IBM doing with our favorite development tools? Come to this meeting and find out what IBM has announced that will affect how you use the System i server.

BIOGRAPHY:

Kendall Kinnear has over 30 years of experience on the IBM midrange, from the System/3 through the System/34 and System/38, to the current System i server. He brings substantial experience from his tenure at companies like IBM, EDS, StorageTek, and Jack Henry and Associates. He has been a Systems Programmer, Application Designer, educator, and speaker. Kendall is currently employed as a Senior Systems Architect at KS2 Technologies, Inc., in the Dallas/Ft Worth Metroplex.

Michael Daly started out as a System Operator 16 years ago. Since then he has worked as a software developer, analyst, and project manager in the retail, food wholesale, and oil and gas industries. Michael is currently employed as a Project Manager/Consultant with KS2 Technologies, Inc., headquartered in Grapevine, TX.
